The short answer is, “all of them”. Functional Diagnostic Nutrition® (FDN) is a fundamental way of looking at health and a type of detective work that seeks to identify and correct the underlying causes and conditions that lead to people’s health complaints. We avoid diagnosing and treating disease, and try very hard to help each client rebuild health instead. This method of non-specific treatment is not only safe and effective, but it also outperforms specific treatment, ending the cycle of trial and error that many clients (and practitioners) get caught in. This approach allows us to help just about anybody in any condition. We use well-chosen functional lab work and in-depth history taking to figure out what’s wrong, what needs fixing, and to guide the general principles of health-building to support every cell, tissue, organ and system in the body.
The certainty of this paradigm is illustrated in the following example….
Ms. Smith came to us with complaints of chronic joint pain (previously diagnosed with and treated for arthritis symptoms), muscle pain (diagnosed and treated for fibromyalgia), skin problems (psoriasis) and digestive issues (gastritis). She also complained she was somewhat depressed and was tired most of the time. When her doctor suggested that she start taking yet another medication (anti-depressants), Ms. Smith got fed up with the diagnosis and treatment options being offered by standard medicine. In essence, her biggest complaint was no longer the pain and discomfort she was experiencing, it was the current medical treatment and run-around she felt she was receiving. In her eyes, the medical model itself was contributing to a downward spiral in her quality of life.
Upon working with an FDN Practitioner and implementing the general principles of health-building that were specific to her according to her functional lab work, Ms. Smith felt immediate relief from her main health complaints within a matter of days, and within 90-days she was practically symptom free!
