Mitochondria: the rod-shaped power-house of the cell. That’s what 7th grade biology taught us. But what we didn’t learn, in 7th grade biology or in any of our other advanced health trainings, is that the mitochondria are the seat of health that we have enormous control to influence. Mitochondria dysfunction is linked to virtually every chronic health issue that exists. Without abundant and efficient mitochondria, every system in the body begins to break down. However, our food and lifestyle choices have direct control over the abundance and efficiency of mitochondrial function. These choices determine if our mitochondria are in energy-production and vitality-enhancement mode, or cell danger and hibernation mode (think low thyroid, chronic fatigue, and more).
