3 Tips for Growing Your 6-Figure Health Coaching Business

Share

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2019 the top 10% of Health Coaches earned more than $98,000 per year.  This compiled with the World Health Organization reporting how chronic disease attributes to 73% deaths and 60% of the global disease burden by 2020, showcases the opportunity Independent Health Coaches have to make over 6-figures annually while doing work that is incredibly fulfilling.

With the massive rise in chronic disease, escalating medical costs, and conventional medicine’s limitations; the demand for Health Coaches and Health Counselors is skyrocketing.

Functional Health Coaches are leading the movement towards holistic wellness, making it a lucrative career with opportunities including working independently, working in groups, and institutional employment. Thanks to advancements in technology and intense demand, the Health Coaching world is leading the way when it comes to home-based businesses and virtual coaching, which is opening many doors for future Health Coaching jobs.

There are endless benefits to working as an independent Functional Health Coach – from personal growth to helping others on a daily basis to having the opportunity to make six figures in a purposeful profession. The list of benefits is continuing to grow now that Health Coaches around the world have the ability to take their talents online. Plus, more people are able to benefit from the increased availability of Health Coaches in their area.

The question then becomes, what does a Health Coach need to do in order to capitalize on the opportunities, this growing demand, and industry?

And how does a Health Coach set themselves apart from the rest of the pack to easily attract and enroll clients to create a steady flow of income?

It’s actually as easy as 1, 2, 3!

Step 1 – Share a Clear Core Marketing Message

Say what? If you’re new to marketing, or even skilled at it, the world of health coach marketing tends to be slightly different. A person’s health is one of the most vulnerable topics to discuss and for one to invest in, therefore it requires a different marketing approach than most other services and products.

As inspirational speaker and coach, Bo Eason once said, “people follow your story, not your resume.”

This highlights the importance of sharing a core marketing message that resonates with people on a story level, one that focuses on transformation and not necessarily the technical aspects of how the transformation is created.

Reflect on your own personal health story for insights about the experiences your potential clients are having; what are their pain points, frustrations, and the solutions they desire.  If you don’t know use yourself as an example to create clarity.

Step 2 – Share Your Message Relentlessly

Statistics show it can take anywhere from 5 to 20 touchpoints before someone will become a customer (client).  Have you ever given someone advice that they didn’t do anything with and then days, weeks, or months later they reach out thanking you for that same piece of advice you’ve shared over and over again thinking it landed on deaf ears?

That’s exactly what happens when marketing yourself too.  Sometimes people have to hear things 10 times before it lands with them.  Or they need to hear the right thing and the right time to motivate them to take action.

Often it can feel as if no one is engaging in your content or listening to what you have to share, but they are, it just takes time to build enough rapport and trust for a person to reach out and as for help.  They also need to be ready, willing, and able to do the work.

To build a six-figure health coaching business, you need to keep sharing your message relentlessly allowing the touchpoints to build up and turn someone from a potential client to a paying client.

There are numerous places to share your message.  You can share it through your own blogs, guest blogs, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, podcasts, Clubhouse or any other platform you like.  Sharing your message on platforms that your ideal clients like to use will get you the most traction.  Not sure what platform they like to use?  Again, you can use yourself as an example since your ideal clients are a reflection of you.  Where do you like to spend your time?  Or when you were at the lowest point of your health journey where were you searching for information?  That’s where they are too.

Step 3 – Set Yourself Apart from the Rest

Declaring to work with a specific niche is one way to set yourself apart from the rest of the health coaches in the industry.  This also helps you to streamline a clear core marketing message as well.  Typically, healers, health coaches, and professionals want to “help everyone”, but when you help everyone you actually help no one because your marketing message is too broad and unclear.  As a health coach or professional, you are uniquely designed to help a specific type of person, and that person would be your niche.

Another way to set yourself apart from the growing health coach industry is by elevating your education and bringing a higher level of service to your clients.

Functional Diagnostic Nutrition® Practitioners are advanced-level health coaches who are able to help their clients on a deeper level by using functional lab testing to uncover healing opportunities within the hormone, immune, digestion, detoxification, energy, and nervous system.  They then know how to use this objective data to guide and personalize recommendations for diet, rest, exercise, stress reduction, supplementation, and toxin removal in order to get real, long-lasting, and sustainable results.

After being certified as a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition® Practitioner, you then also qualify for multiple Health Coaching Board Certifications through organizations such as the American Natural Wellness Coaches Board (ANWCB), the American Association of Natural Wellness Practitioners (AANWP), the Guardian Ecclesiastical Medical Association (GEMA), and the American Association of Drugless Practitioners (AADP).

The Functional Diagnostic Nutrition® Health Coach Certification Course also includes running lab tests on yourself as part of the curriculum so you can not only walk the talk but also improve your own health.  As a result, many FDN graduates have a waiting list of clients when they complete the course by simply sharing their experience as they are going through it.

All people really want to know is:

  • Do you know what is wrong with me?
  • Have you helped others like me?
  • And can you help me?

You’ll be able to confidently say yes to all of these questions with your advanced knowledge as a certified FDN Practitioner making you more attractive to potential clients compared to other health coaches or professionals.

Confidence is critical to building your health coaching business.  When you have the right training, resources, leadership, and community behind you, having confidence comes easy and so does building a six-figure health coaching business.
